Robert Stuart Edgar


Robert Stuart Edgar was a geneticist.
Upon graduating from McGill University, Edgar pursued graduate study at the University of Rochester. After completing his doctorate, he began teaching at the California Institute of Technology in 1957. Edgar joined the University of California, Santa Cruz faculty in 1970, where he taught for twenty years until retirement in 1990. He received the NAS Award in Molecular Biology in 1965, and was granted membership into the National Academy of Sciences itself in 2007. He was also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
