Robin Morrow


Robin Morrow AM is an Australian lecturer, critic and editor in children's literature. She is a past president of the Australian section of the International Board on Books for Young People IBBY Australia.

Early life

Robin Moncrieff Morrow was born in 1942. She was educated at Meriden School and at Sydney University. She spent some years teaching English, French and ESL.

Australian children's literature expert

In 1971, together with her mother, Beryl Moncrieff Matthews, opened The Children's Bookshop, Beecroft, the first specialist children's bookshop in New South Wales. Robin managed the shop for 25 years.
In the 1990s Robin moved into publishing, for a time acting as children’s publisher at Scholastic. Robin held the position of vice president of the Aora Children’s Literature Research Centre
Robin has taught children's literature courses at Macquarie University, Australian Catholic University, University of Technology, Sydney and Simmons College, Boston. Robin has reviewed children's books for The Weekend Australian and other review journals.
Her work on literary judging panels includes:
