Rotokauri


Rotokauri is a semi-rural suburb in western Hamilton in New Zealand. It is one of the future urban zones of Hamilton, along with Peacocke.
The outskirts of Rotokauri have an impressive orchid farm, all under glass, exporting blooms across the world, and providing ample local employment.
The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "kauri tree lake" for Rotokauri.

Demographics

Rotokauri had a population of 165 at the 2013 New Zealand census, a decrease of 21 people since the 2006 census. There were 75 males and 87 females. Figures have been rounded and may not add up to totals. 88.2% were European/Pākehā, 11.8% were Māori, 2.0% were Pacific peoples and 3.9% were Asian.
