Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001


Russia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Russian entry was selected internally by the Russian broadcaster Russian Public Television. Mumiy Troll represented Russia with the song "Lady Alpine Blue", which placed 12th and scored 37 points at the contest.

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

In April 2001, ORT announced the band Mumiy Troll as the Russian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Lady Alpine Blue". Over 2,000 performers applied for the internal selection, with a jury panel selecting Mumiy Troll to represent Russia at the 2001 contest.

At Eurovision

Russia performed 6th at the 2001 Contest, following Israel and preceding Sweden. After the voting concluded, Russia scored 37 points and placed 12th.
The voting spokesperson for Russia was Larissa Verbitskaya.
