Ryan J. Brown


Ryan J. Brown is an award-winning English screenwriter, born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.

Education and career

Brown studied at Goldsmiths, University of London and received a DADA scholarship to train as an actor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
In 2016 he won the BAFTA New Writing Prize for TV Drama for his LGBT crime drama We Are Your Children. He was also a finalist in Lionsgate and Idris Elba's Write to Greenlight Competition. We Are Your Children was selected for the Brit List TV 2018, an annual selection of the best unproduced screenplays as voted for by the industry. It was announced on Deadline Hollywood that We Are You Children is being developed by Lene Bausager and her UK film company Ugly Duckling Films. In 2019, Brown was again featured highly on The Brit List for the second time in a row with his Big Talk Productions project Only Child
In 2017 Brown was selected by the Royal Television Society for their 'Talent of Tomorrow' series and by Gay Times as an "LGBT Emerging Artist to watch."
