Sahnewal Airport


Sahnewal Airport, also known as Ludhiana Airport, is the local airport serving the city of Ludhiana and other sub-cities of Ludhiana District in Punjab. It is near the town of Sahnewal, southeast of Ludhiana on the Grand Trunk Road.It is proposed to be shifted to Ludhiana international airport, Halwara, Ludhiana by 2021.
The airport is spread over more than 130 acres. The arrival/departure halls can accommodate 40 passengers. Air India Regional, which used to operate an ATR-42 aircraft to Delhi, ceased the service in 2014.
The Ludhiana-Delhi route was resumed by Air India under the UDAN scheme on 2 September 2017. The flight is flown by Alliance Air.

Ludhiana Airport

An is being planned for Ludhiana at Halwara Air Force Station. All the NOC have been obtained from various departments and Punjab government has also signed an MOU with the Airport Authority of India. AAI and the state government will develop the civil terminal through a joint venture company to be constituted. While AAI would have a majority stake of 51% in the JVC, the state government, through the Greater Ludhiana Development Authority, will have 49% stake in the project.
