Salt toxicosis
Salt toxicosis is the overconsumption of salt. The symptoms may include a swollen tongue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and thirst. Neurological effects may include thirst, irritability, weakness, headache, and convulsions. Cerebral edema may also occur, and muscle tremors can also be present. Salt toxicosis also affects many breeds of pets or domesticated animals, such as cats, dogs, horses, cows, and birds. Symptoms for pets may include vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, lethargy, walking drunk, abnormal fluid accumulation within the body, excessive thirst or urination, potential injury to the kidneys, tremors, seizures, coma, and eventually could lead to death without care.
Salt toxicosis may be caused by the ingestion of salt dough.
