San Frediano Rondinella S.S.

San Frediano Rondinella Società Sportiva S.S.D.R.L. is an Italian association football club based in Florence.

History

Rondinella Firenze

Founded in 1946 as Rondinella Firenze, in 1963 they merged with Marzocco assuming the name of Rondinella Marzocco Firenze or R.M. Firenze. The team kept that name until 1997, when Rondinella merged with Impruneta Calcio, another semi-professional soccer team in Florence, and thus became known as Rondinella Impruneta. Eventually they got back to the original name, thus the team are currently known as Rondinella.
The name Rondinella comes from the Italian word rondine, and their logo represents this. The team plays at Stadio Bozzi-Due Strade in Florence.
Rondinella, the historical second team in Florence, had also a glorious past, playing for several years in Serie C; in particular, its last stint in Serie C1 was in 1986, and the last appearance in Serie C2 in 2002. However, the club experienced a quick decline in recent years, relegating to Serie D in 2002, to Eccellenza in 2006, and Promozione in 2007.
In the summer 2009 the club went bankrupt.

San Frediano Rondinella

In the summer 2009 the club was refounded, after the banckruptcy of the old club, with its denomination to the current one.
