Santa Fe Community Orchestra

The Santa Fe Community Orchestra is an amateur orchestra based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In addition to performing five free concerts per season, the orchestra conducts free educational programs, including Side by Side concerts with children from the public school music programs, workshops for adult musicians, a free composition competition featuring New Mexico composers and Anatomy of a Symphony concerts.
Some orchestra members have formed chamber ensembles. These groups have played at nursing homes, public schools, art gallery openings and benefit events. The SFCO supplies musicians for local choral and theatre productions and gives their free performances in the St. Francis Auditorium.
The SFCO was established in 1982 by Jody Ellis, Anne-Lise Cohen and others. It has since performed over 70 free concerts. The symphony has been directed by Oliver Prezant since 1999 when Bob Wingert, another of its co-founders, moved away.
