Scott Howard (musician)

Scott Howard is a baritone singer who sang for the Southern Gospel quartet Legacy Five from its formation in 1999 until 2019.

Biography

Scott Howard is from West Monroe, Louisiana, where he grew up, but currently resides in Tennessee. Before he joined Legacy Five, he had developed a desire to sing Southern gospel music. He began searching for a group to sing with. He found this in a local mixed group called Sonshine with whom he would sing for the next 12 years. "I'm thankful for the time with Sonshine," Howard said. "The Lord was preparing me for my calling." During his time with the group, he met his wife, Kelly.
In May 1996, Howard and his family moved to Tennessee. He explained, "I actually started working for Roger Bennett shortly after coming to Tennessee. He was still with the Cathedrals and also doing some solo dates. I managed the mail order office and traveled with Roger on his solo dates, running sound and singing a little." This would eventually lead to the opportunity to join Legacy Five.
Howard is known as a very smooth baritone singer and was voted by the readers of the Singing News Magazine as the Favorite Baritone Singer of the Year in 2004.

Legacy Five

Howard has been with Legacy Five since its formation in 1999. Only he and Scott Fowler remain from the original five members. Being an original member, Fowler relies on him as a model of consistency. The current group consists of Fowler, Howard, Josh Feemster as tenor, Matt Fouch as bass and Trey Ivey on piano.

Personal life

Howard married his wife, Kelly, in January 1989, and they welcomed their first of three children, Mallory, in October 1992. Grant was born in 1998 and Jenna was adopted in 2003.
