Sembawang Single Member Constituency


Sembawang Single Member Constituency is a defunct single member constituency in Sembawang, Singapore that was formed in 1955 and continued until 1988 when it was one of the founding wards of the larger Sembawang Group Representation Constituency and continues throughout as present ward.

Note: The then incumbent Ahmad bin Ibrahim ran for the election in the same seat again, but he had joined the People's Action Party before the 1959 election. He died in 1962, which made this election the last he contested.
Note 2: MIC is allied with Singapore's UMNO and MCA chapters, similar to its Malaysian counterpart with the exception of not using the alliance symbol which was the reason for the elections department of Singapore to view Vangadaslam Jayaram as an independent candidate.
