Senad Lulić
Senad Lulić is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Serie A club Lazio.
Lulić started his professional career at Chur 97, before joining Bellinzona in 2006. Two years later, he moved to Grasshopper. In 2010, he was transferred to Young Boys. The following year, he moved to Lazio, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 2013 Coppa Italia Final against city rivals Roma.
Lulić made his senior international debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2008, earning over 50 caps. He represented the nation at their first major tournament, the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He stopped playing for the national team in 2017.
Club career
Early career
Lulić was born in Mostar, but he spent most of his childhood in Jablanica. Due to Bosnian War, his family moved to Switzerland, where he started playing football at a local club, Chur 97, whose youth setup he joined in 1998. He made his professional debut in 2003.In the summer of 2006, Lulić switched to Bellinzona.
In May 2008, he signed a three-year contract with Grasshopper.
On 5 June 2010, he moved to Young Boys on a three-year deal.
Lazio
On 16 June 2011, Lulić was transferred to Italian team Lazio for an undisclosed fee. He made his competitive debut for the club on 18 August against Rabotnički in 1st leg of UEFA Europa League play-off. Three weeks later, he made his league debut in an away draw at Milan. On 23 October, Lulić scored his first goal for Lazio, in a comfortable victory over Bologna. Following his debut season, in June 2012, Lulić was voted third as Bosnia and Herzegovina's player of the year, behind Edin Džeko and Miralem Pjanić.Lulić won his first trophy with the club on 26 May 2013, by beating city rivals Roma in Coppa Italia final. He scored the only goal of the game in 71st minute.
On 28 November, Lulić played his 100th game for the side.
On his 30th birthday, he extended his contract until June 2020.
Lulić played his 200th game for Lazio against Bologna on 16 October.
He was accused of insulting Antonio Rüdiger after a loss against city rivals Roma in December 2016. After being found guilty of these allegations, he was suspended for 20 days and fined €10,000.
In July 2017, after departure of Lucas Biglia, Lulić was named team captain. He won his first trophy as captain on 13 August, by triumphing over Juventus in Supercoppa Italiana.
On 19 February 2018, Lulić played his 200th league game for Lazio.
In a game against Apollon Limassol on 29 November 2018, Lulić entered Lazio's top 10 appearance makers ever, as he played his 294th game for the club.
A few weeks later, he scored a goal in his 300th game for the team.
On 7 December 2019, Lulić played his 343rd match for Lazio and overtook Aldo Puccinelli as club's 5th all-time appearance maker.
International career
In May 2008, Lulić received his first senior call-up to Bosnia and Herzegovina, for friendly game against Azerbaijan, and debuted in that game on 1 June.On 15 November 2011, he was dismissed for protesting in the second leg of the UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying play-offs, which his team lost against Portugal.
On 7 June 2013, in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Latvia, Lulić scored his first senior international goal.
In June 2014, Lulić was named in Bosnia and Herzegovina's squad for 2014 FIFA World Cup, country's first major competition. He made his competition debut in the opening group game on 15 June, and assisted Vedad Ibišević for Bosnia's first ever goal in tournament finals, a consolation in defeat to Argentina at the Maracanã Stadium.
With six assists, Lulić was the best assist provider in UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying, along with Arkadiusz Milik and Vladimír Weiss.
Lulić retired from international football on 29 December 2017.
