Sevince
"Sevince" was the Turkish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1978, performed in Turkish by Nilüfer & Grup Nazar. Nazar included Olcayto Ahmet Tuğsuz who went on to compose the Turkish entries in 1982 and 1987 and San Marino's entry in 2016.
The song is an up-tempo number about the power of love and the song talks about love and how it is good when we are loved by someone.
The song was performed twelfth on the night, following Netherlands' Harmony with "'t Is OK" and preceding Germany's Ireen Sheer with "Feuer". At the close of voting, it had received only 2 points, placing 18th in a field of 20.
In 1979, Turkey withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest because other islamic countries had pressurized Turkey to withdraw (the contest was held in Jerusalem, not recognized as capital of Israel by islamic countries.
It was succeeded as the Turkish representative at the 1980 contest by Ajda Pekkan with "Pet'r Oil".
