Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 854 people, 337 households, and 232 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,783.4 people per square mile. There were 357 housing units at an average density of 745.5 per square mile. The racial makeup of the village was 96.84% White, 0.35% African American, 0.23% Native American, 1.29% Asian, 0.12% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. The ethnic makeup was 0.82% partially Hispanic or Latino.
There were 337 households out of which 29.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.9% were non-families. 27.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.99.
In the village, the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 22.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
