Sharon Public Higher Secondary School


History

Sharon Public Higher Secondary School is a nursery to 12th grade English-medium private school in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 1985 and affiliated to the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education. It started with 11 students on its rolls, which later grew to about 500. The high school classes started in 1995 and the first board examination of 10th grade was written by the students in 1997. It was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 2009.

School structure

Houses

The house system was started in 1990. The students were divided into three houses which were named after the three mountain ranges of India:
The houses have house masters and captains.

Staff

The school started with three staff members, and has increased to 32.

Curriculum

All subjects except Hindi and Urdu are taught in English. The school places special emphasis on the use of English in student-teacher and student-student interactions.
