Sherali Khayrulloyev


Sherali Khayrulloyevich Khayrulloyev is a retired Tajikistani general and politician. He was the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan from 1995 to 2013.

Education

He joined the Soviet Army in 1970, and served as a brigade battalion accountancy director. From 1977 to 1988,he worked in the Interior Ministry of the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1988 to 1995, he served as Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs Tajikistan. Khayrulloyev became the minister of defense on 7 April 1995. He resigned in 2013 due to health issues. On January 25, 2014, the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon appointed him the Advisor to the President on National Security issues. In March 2019, Khayrulloyev retired from military service.

Personal life

Khayrulloyev is married, and has 2 children. His son Tokhir is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Tajik military. His brother Mirale Khayrulloyev was the former head of the Khatlon administration of the Agency for Drug Control.
