Shimon Solomon


Shimon Solomon is a former Israeli politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for Yesh Atid between 2013 and 2015.

Biography

Born in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia, Solomon immigrated to Israel in 1980 as part of Operation Brothers. Between 2005 and 2007 he worked in the Israeli embassy in Addis Ababa, before becoming director of an immigrant absorption centre in Beersheba. He also worked as Director of Education at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, which is a living, learning, and healing community, home to 500 of the most vulnerable youth in Rwanda.
He was one of the founders of the new Yesh Atid party prior to the 2013 elections, and was placed twelfth on the party's list, becoming a Knesset member as the party won 19 seats. Prior to the 2015 elections, he chose not to run for re-election.
