Shinsaku Uesugi


Shinsaku Uesugi is a :en:FIDE titles|FIDE Master of Japan and played for Japan at the :en:38th Chess Olympiad|38th Chess Olympic in Dresden, Germany in November 2008. He won the 40th :en:Japanese Chess Championship|Japan National Chess Championship in May 2007 and became youngest ever National Champion. He also became Co-Champion of :en:Scholastic chess in the United States|the U.S. National High School Championship in April 2010.
Shinsaku Uesugi was born in Kyoto, Japan on April 17, 1991 and moved to the United States in March 2000. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School in June 2010 and University of California, Berkeley in May 2014.

In November 2010, Shinsaku Uesugi won the UC Berkeley Canasta tournament with partner Ted Sanders. As of February 2011, Shinsaku Uesugi is UC Berkeley's second highest rated Canasta player.
Shinsaku also played badminton for the University of California, Berkeley club badminton team.
