Siemens Inspiro


The Siemens Inspiro is an electric multiple unit designed and manufactured by Siemens Transportation Systems since 2012 for metro systems. The product was launched on 19 September 2012 at the InnoTrans in Berlin. The first Inspiro entered service with Warsaw Metro on 6 October 2013.

Genesis

In October 2009, Siemens Mobility started development on a new subway product family. It collaborated with DesignworksUSA on design aspects. The company based its design on Mo.Mo vehicles previously produced for Vienna, Prague, Oslo and Nuremberg.

United Kingdom

Siemens were awarded a contract worth £1.5bn for 94 new rolling stock based on the Inspiro to replace existing stock used on Piccadilly line. The first of the type is expected to enter service in 2024.

Bulgaria

20 new metro 3-car trainsets have been ordered for line 3 of the Sofia Metro to enter into service April 2020. The contract includes an option for 10 additional trainsets.

Thailand

New 22 metro train for BTS, in service 2018 on Silom Line and Sukhumvit Line and 35 metro trains for MRT Blue Line, first lot in service 2019 and available for full service in 2020.

Germany

Class C for Munich U-Bahn U3 & U6 in service for 21 six-car trains – the first Inspiro components order on 2010.
Order for 21 four-car trains for Nuremberg U-Bahn on 2015 to enter revenue service on 2020 also using Inspiro
