SiteGround is a web hosting company founded in 2004 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In most recent data, it reports servicing more than 2,000,000 domains worldwide. It provides shared hosting, cloud hosting and enterprise solutions as well as email hosting and domain registration. In 2019, the company employed over 500 people. It has offices in Sofia, Stara Zagora, Madrid and Plovdiv.

History

SiteGround was founded in 2004 in Sofia by a few university friends. In January 2015, Joomla offered free hosted website solution on Joomla.com in partnership with SiteGround.
As of 2017 SiteGround has offices in Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora and Madrid.

Server infrastructure and setup

According to the company's website, in May 2020, it had 6 data centers in 6 countries: the United States, the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Australia and Singapore. SiteGround runs CentOS, Apache, MySQL, PHP and WHM/cPanel on its servers. The company has developed software solutions for account isolation, monitoring and reaction, and speed-optimization, sold under the 1H brand and used by other Linux hosting companies. SiteGround uses SSD to store data.

Products and services

SiteGround provides web hosting services for WordPress, Joomla, Magento, Drupal, PrestaShop and WooCommerce websites. It also has a Weebly connector. SiteGround has a reputation for very good uptime.
On July 30th 2019, SiteGround announced the launching of their redesigned user area with a new control panel known as 'Site Tools'. The new system, according to the officials, took more than 3 years and over 20 new technical staffs to develop.

Kyup

In 2014 part of the SiteGround team began working on Kyup, a side-project that would allow the company to focus on the more technically-oriented markets of developers and devops.
