Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011


Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, selecting their entry through a televised national final, organised by the Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija. The show was held on 27 February 2011.

Before Eurovision

EMA 2011

EMA 2011 was the 16th edition of the Slovenian national final format Evrovizijska Melodija . The competition was used by RTV Slovenija to select Slovenia's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Ten artists, invited by RTV Slovenija, competed in EMA 2011.

Final

EMA 2011 took place on 27 February 2011 at the RTV Slovenija studios in Ljubljana, hosted by Klemen Slakonja. The winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a three-member jury panel selected two entries to proceed to the second round: "Vanilija" performed by Maja Keuc and "Ladadidej" performed by April. The jury consisted of Darja Švajger, Mojca Mavec and Severina. In the second round, a public vote selected "Vanilija" performed by Maja Keuc as the winner.

At Eurovision

Slovenia chose Maja Keuc as their representative in Düsseldorf in 2011, singing "No one". Slovenia performed in the second semi-final on May 12, 2011 in position 13. After voting, Slovenia qualified for the grand final on Saturday May 14 with a respectable 3rd place and 112 points. Slovenia drew position 20 in the grand final. At the conclusion of voting, Slovenia ended in 13th place with 96 points. This result gave Slovenia its third best effort in the Eurovision Song Contest, the best result being 7th place in 1995 and 2001, and the second being 10th place in 1997.
