Sophie Renate Reuss of Köstritz
Princess Sofie Renate Reuß was the third child and only daughter of Prince Heinrich VII Reuß, J.L., proprietor of the Köstritz paragium, and Princess Marie of Saxe-Weimar. Her mother was the daughter of Charles Alexander, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar by his wife, Princess Sophie of the Netherlands. She was born in Mauer, Vienna in Austria.
From the accession to the throne of the Netherlands of the ten year-old Princess Wilhelmina of Orange-Nassau in 1890, her grandmother was the heiress presumptive to the Dutch throne, until her own death in 1897.
On 12 December 1909 the princess married her cousin, Prince Heinrich XXXIV Reuß, J.L.. After the death of her husband at Frankfurt am Main, she resided in Gelnhausen in Hesse, and died in Giessen, Germany.
