The South RedfordSchool District is in Redford, a suburb of Detroit. In May 2005, residents of the South Redford School District passed the 2005 Bond Facilities Proposal. The $32.65 million bond allowed the District to make substantial up grades, repairs and improvements to the facilities across the entire school district. Pierce Middle School was built in 1959. Mission Statement: Staff, students, parents and the community working together to ensure continuous learning and success. Particularly for the Class of 2024 enrolled in the South Redford School District, many classes in the school are overcrowded and easily overwhelm any teacher, of which many complain about, with classes going up to 35 students. Ideally, 18-24 students are supposed to be in a classroom for an adequate learning environment while using as much space as possible to maintain a suitable learning environment. Because of the teacher shortage throughout the country, this is not possible; however, 35 students in a classroom, particularly a core classroom is rather unsanitary, lessens test scores, of which, give the district a big check in the mail, and causes a mental strain on the unfortunate teacher because one teacher against thirty-five students doesn’t work out very well. The district also has some rather questionable spending habits. In the district’s middle school, Pierce Middle School, there’s a hole in the ceiling of its cafeteria, which has been there for many years. The school instead has purchased around 6-8 flat screen tvs in the hallways with announcements that no student looks at because people accidents cause bad lawsuits and the Michigan Department of Education isn’t very generous with its budget. The district’s student’s test scores often fall below the Michigan average. In the 2019-20 school year, South Redford switched to a grading program named TeacherEase that most teachers have complained about because of how it makes no sense and its inconsistency when grading. Students speculate that this is a hidden plot to lie about student grades for the district to get more money.
