Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher Award
The Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher Award is an annual award given to the best pitcher in Minor League Baseball's Southern League based on their regular season performance. The award was created in 1972, eight years after the league was established in 1964.
Eight players from the Jacksonville Expos/Suns have been selected for the Most Outstanding Pitcher Award, more than any other team in the league, followed by the Birmingham Barons and Nashville Sounds ; the Biloxi Shuckers, Charlotte O's/Knights, Columbus Astros, Greenville Braves, Knoxville Blue Jays/Tennessee Smokies, Orlando Twins, and West Tenn Diamond Jaxx/Jackson Generals ; the Chattanooga Lookouts and Mobile BayBears ; and the Carolina Mudcats, Charlotte Hornets, Huntsville Stars, Mississippi Braves, Montgomery Biscuits, and Nashville Xpress.
Five players each from the Cincinnati Reds and Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball organizations have won the Most Outstanding Pitcher Award, more than any others, followed by the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, and Milwaukee Brewers organizations ; the Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations ; the Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Florida/Miami Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Montreal Expos organizations ; and the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays organizations.
