Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007


Spain selected its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 through the contest Misión Eurovisión 2007, organized by TVE at the :es:Estudios de Prado del Rey|Prado del Rey Studios in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid and hosted by Paula Vázquez. The Spanish public chose the boy band NASH with the song "I Love You Mi Vida". The song was composed by and Andreas Rickstrand and written by Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson and Rebeca Pous Del Toro.
D'NASH entered into the final in Helsinki on 12 May 2007. They finished in the twentieth position with 43 points.

Before Eurovision

Misión Eurovisión 2007

The selection procedure called for artists to submit their participation and for songs to be submitted without any attachments to specific singers. Interested artists were able to submit an application until 15 January 2007, while interested composers were able to submit their entries up until 30 December 2006. 45 artists were selected before the application period to compete in the national final, while 12 more were selected after the conclusion of the application period. 1,001 songs were received by TVE, which 15 were shortlisted for internet voting.

Heat 1

The first heat was held on 9 January 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The top 3 artists chosen by regional televoting and another 2 artists chosen by an "expert" jury qualified for the final.

Heat 2

The second heat was held on 16 January 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The top 3 artists chosen by regional televoting and another 2 artists chosen by an "expert" jury qualified for the final.

Heat 3

The third was held on 23 January 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The top 3 artists chosen by regional televoting and another 2 artists chosen by an "expert" jury qualified for the final.

Heat 4

The fourth heat was held on 3 February 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The top 3 artists chosen by regional televoting and another artist chosen by an "expert" jury qualified for the final.

Semi-final

The semi-final was held on 10 February 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. The top 3 artists chosen by regional televoting and another 2 artists chosen by an "expert" jury qualified for the final.

Songs selection

Fifteen songs were put on the internet on 15 January 2007, from which 10 semi-finalists were announced on 23 January 2007. After a second round of voting, the five songs that each performer would compete with were announced on 29 January 2007.

Final

The final was held on 24 February 2007 at the TVE TV Studios in Madrid, hosted by Paula Vázquez. During the final, extracts of "La Reina De La Noche", "I Love You Mi Vida", "Una Lagrima", "Tu Voz Se Apagará", and "Busco un Hombre/Busco una chica" were performed. The five combinations that the public preferred went on to compete in a superfinal, where regional televoting selected the winner. When the final results were given, NASH and Mirela were tied throughout the voting. In the last regions to award points, NASH pulled ahead and won Misión Eurovisión with the song "I Love You Mi Vida".

At Eurovision

Spain automatically qualified for the grand final, on 12 May 2007; as part of the "Big Four". During the placement draw, it was determined that Spain would perform 2nd. On 12 May, Spain placed 20th with 43 points.
