St. Augustine's College (Malta)


St Augustine College in Malta was established as a Faith school for boys by the Order of Saint Augustine in 1848 by Mons. Fra. Gaetano Pace dei Baroni Forno O.S.A. He founded it in founded it in Valletta next door to the church of St. Augustine. It has since been relocated to Pietà. Since then, the Primary Sector has opened up in Marsa.

Early Life

Of Hippo) was born in 354 AD in Thagaste in Roman Numidia. His mother, Monica or Monnica, was a devout Christian; his father Patricius was a Pagan who converted to Christianity just before he died. For two years, Augustine thought Grammar before leaving to Carthage. He continued teaching in Carthage for nine more years. After this, Augustine traveled again to Rome, where he was a professor for ten years but left due to his opinion regarding Roman culture. From there he proceeded to go to Milan, after he won a job at the Imperial court as a rhetoric professor. This is also where he married.

Conversion To Christianity.

When Augustine was 31, in the year 386 AD he converted to Christianity, after some pressure from his Mother, Monica. He also wrote the book Confessions. In 391, he was ordained priest. For years afterwards, in 395 Augustine was made a bishop of Hippo. He died on 28 August 430.
