St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral, Abeokuta


The St. Peter and St. Paul Cathedral is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church and serves as the cathedral of Abeokuta, a city in the west African country of Nigeria, Ogun State capital, located on the river of the same name.
The cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of the Diocese of Abeokuta which was created in 1997 by the bull Cum ad aeternam of the Pope John Paul II. The first Mass was celebrated on June 29, 1880, by the Fathers of the Society of the Mission. It was elevated to cathedral status in 1997.
