St Aidan's College, Birkenhead
St Aidan’s College was formally inaugurated as a theological college in 1856 to train Anglican clergy to serve in the Church of England. The college had existed prior to 1856 as a private institution under the auspices of Dr Joseph Baylee. New buildings designed by Henry Cole were inaugurated in November 1856. A new chapel opened in 1882. The college was located in Shrewsbury Road, Birkenhead and finally closed in 1970. The name has been continued at St Mellitus North West; and its archives are located at the University of Liverpool.Principals
