Statue of Artemas Ward
General Artemas Ward is a bronze statue of American Revolutionary War general Artemas Ward by Leonard Crunelle at Ward Circle, at the intersection of Nebraska and Massachusetts Avenues in Northwest, Washington, D.C.
As a part of bequest of George Artemas Ward, great grandson of the general, to Harvard University, the sculpture was funded for $50,000. Increases in the cost of bronze made an equestrian memorial unaffordable.
It was unveiled on November 3, 1938 by Maj. Gen. Ward's great-great-great-granddaughter, Mrs. Lewis Wesley Feick, and is authorized by. The base of the statue bears this inscription:
