Stephen Brown is an American producer, media executive and entrepreneur. He has spent the majority of his career in the media industry as a senior executive and board member of an internationally based and publicly owned motion picture finance, distribution and marketing/licensing company and as a producer of motion pictures for a leading Hollywood production company. Some of the most popular productions in which he is credited are pictures such as Seven, The Fugitive, The Devil's Advocate and A Perfect Murder.
Biography
A Los Angeles, California native, Brown graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics and history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He currently maintains residences in New York and Los Angeles, and for many years lived between Rome, Italy and Los Angeles. Brown produced "The Ottoman Lieutenant" starring Josh Hartnett, Michiel Huisman, Sir Ben Kingsley and Hera Hilmar. The film was financed by Y Production, an Istanbul, Turkey based motion picture and finance company where Brown served as its Chief Executive Officer and oversaw the Company’s U.S. operations. It was released in 2017 theatrically in the U.S. by Paladin; and internationally by Universal Pictures. Projects in development where Brown will serve as a producer include a motion picture about Rumi, the 13th-century mystic and poet, which is being developed with the Academy Award-winning writer David Franzoni. Concurrently, Brown is a co-founder and partner in Ambitious Productions. Founded in 2011 with offices in New York City and Los Angeles, Ambitious is a fully integrated digital and traditional media production, studio and camera rental, and entertainment lifestyle company. His responsibilities include the oversight of operations, production, legal and finance activities. Previously, Brown served as president and CEO of USA-Intertainment Inc., a subsidiary of Intertainment AG, a publicly held media company based in Munich, Germany. In 2000, Brown formed USA-Intertainment, a motion picture development, financing and production company in Los Angeles. He also served as deputy chairman of Intertainment AG from 2001 through 2003 and as a member of its executive board through 2008. Prior to joining Intertainment, Brown was president of Kopelson Entertainment, where he managed corporate affairs; the negotiation, acquisition and development of all literary properties; and, in coordination with studio executives, all development, production, worldwide distribution and marketing activities of major motion pictures. Brown joined forces with producer Arnold Kopelson in 1989. Brown's filmography includes eleven major motion pictures, including: "Twisted" Executive Producer Paramount Pictures, "A Perfect Murder" Executive Producer Warner Bros., Devil's Advocate Co-Producer Warner Bros., "Eraser" Co-Producer Warner Bros., "Seven" Co-Producer New Line Cinema, "Outbreak" Co-Producer Warner Bros., and "The Fugitive" Co-Producer Warner Bros. Brown's 25 years of film production, management, operations and sales and marketing experience in Hollywood and internationally are supported by a decade of private and commercial capital formation enterprise, investor relations, corporate communications and marketing in New York City as vice president of John De Nigris Associates. Since 2008 he has served as a consultant to Vahid & Associates Brand Futurists in Bahrain, advising companies and individuals looking to launch businesses in the Gulf Region as well as local media companies with brand redevelopment and extension activities.
