Stonebridge Elementary

Stonebridge Elementary is a public elementary school in Stillwater, Minnesota, United States. It was established in 1971 and is one of nine elementary schools in the Stillwater Area School District 834. Stonebridge hosts grades k-6 and as of 2015 has approximately 460 students. According to the school website, Stonebridge "accommodates student learning styles, develops independence for students, promotes responsibility, and implements full inclusion of all special needs children." The school is organized into a unique, open-spaced environment. The building is split into four separate "colonies" that host either one or two grades. Colony one is home to kindergarten and first grade, colony two is home to second and third grade, colony three is home to fourth and fifth grade, and colony four is home to sixth grade. Because the students are not in classrooms, they have much more freedom to move around and study subjects of their own desire. The school was named after a nearby stone bridge that passes over a small creek. The bridge is a local historic landmark.
