Sui gas field


Sui gas field is the biggest natural gas field in Pakistan. It is located near Sui in Baluchistan Province, in southwestern Pakistan.

Production

The gas field was discovered in the late 1952 and the commercial exploitation of the field began in 1955. Ever since then it is fulfilling the requirements of the states, however, the production mass has reduced to a mere %6 in the last decade or so.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines today announced financial results for the half year ending December 31st, 2018. The gas giant reported profits worth Rupees 3.859 billion, up by 7.11% during the year. The gas sales at the company also reported an upward trend after posting total sales at Rupees 178.792 billion.
On the expenses front, the company reported a surge of 212% in other operating expenses which clocked in at 977 million for the period under review.
SNGPL posted a net profit after taxation at Rupees 3.859 billion, up 7.11% against a tally of rupees 3.603 billion during the second half of 2016.
The company reported an EPS of Rs. 6.08 vs. an EPS of Rs. 5.68 during year ending December, 2016.
The political instability in Baluchistan was caused when, Akbar Bugti, sought more royalty in the shares of production. However, in an interview, given to Sohail Wadahich, he rebuffed such claims.
Sui gas field accounts for 6% of Pakistan's gas production. Remaining reserves are estimated to be at about and the daily production is around.
The operator of the field is Pakistan Petroleum Limited.

Protective measures

The SUI Gas pipelines repeatedly get attacked by the terrorists that is why as a protective measure, Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has ordered that Frontier Corps will take charge of Sui gas fields.
