Susan Sherman


Susan Sherman is an American "radical" poet and playwright and the founder of IKON magazine.

Career

Sherman's work is connected to the Women’s Liberation Movement in the 1970s and 1980s. She is a self-proclaimed radical poet. Her poem Lilith of the Wildwood, of the Fair Places depicts Lilith as an outlaw figure. In addition to writing poetry, plays, and articles, she also was a cultural organizer and worked as an editor and wrote reviews. She was close friends with May Sarton whose work she edited. She was also the founder of IKON magazine that ran from 1967 to 1994.
