Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007


Switzerland was represented by DJ BoBo in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Vampires Are Alive".
René Baumann, also known as DJ BoBo, is a successful Eurodance musician. René has received numerous golds and platinums for his songs and has found success in Europe, Israel, and South America. In 2004, as a result of the success of "Chihuahua", René was awarded the Swiss award for Showbusiness at the Swiss awards, an annual event intended to recognise high achieving Swiss people.

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

Switzerland selected their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 on 21 February 2007, making the decision to have DJ BoBo represent the country, from a total of over sixty entries. The song to represent the country in the semi-final was revealed to be "Vampires Are Alive", with Kimia Scarlett providing the female vocals.

Promotion

Prior to the contest, DJ Bobo travelled to Cyprus to promote the Swiss entry.

At Eurovision

Because Switzerland placed 16th at the 2006 contest,DJ BoBo was forced to compete in the Eurovision semi-final on 10 May 2007 came 20th with 40 points failing to qualify to the Grand Final.
