History

The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to 1432, but the church was already existing at that time. The original church was likely a stave church. In 1766, the church was described as an old and non-descript stave church. It is not known if it was the original church or not. The stave church was torn down in 1836 and the materials were sold. A new church was built the same year on that site, which still stands today.
