Tatiana Issa


Tatiana Issa is an award-winning director & producer with more than 40 international awards for the feature film Dzi Croquettes, featuring Liza Minnelli. The film became the most awarded documentary in Brazilian history and had its US premiere at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, followed by a theatrical release in the USA, Europe and Brazil. The film received raving reviews from all major newspapers, such as The New York Times, LA Times, Time Out NY, LA Weekly, Village Voice, among many others. Tatiana is the co-founder of Producing Partners and ART DOCS and the creator, producer and director of numerous hit primetime television series, such as HBO's documentary series FORA DO ARMÁRIO, HBO feature documentary "BERTHA LUTZ - WOMEN AND THE U.N. CHARTER, Food Network's gastronomy series DESTINO CON SABOR, TV GLOBO's series VIVER DO RISO and EXPRESSO FUTURO, GNT’s acclaimed travel series PEDRO PELO MUNDO and many others.  Since 2011 she has created , directed and produced more than 20 TV series. Tatiana is a member of NYWIFT.

Background

Issa was born in São Paulo, Brazil on 16 January 1974. Her father was a set designer called Americo Issa and she began acting at the age of 7, doing several professional plays and international theater festivals. At age 12, she began acting in motion pictures and later attended the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York. In 2009 she produced and directed the film Dzi Croquettes, for which she received more than 40 international awards, making it the most awarded documentary in Brazilian history. Tatiana Issa is currently the Director and Executive Producer of the primetime television series Fora do Armário, Pedro Pelo Mundo GNT/Globosat Network, Além da Conta with Ingrid Guimarães GNT/Globosat Network, Expresso Futuro with Ronaldo Lemos, TV Globo , Nelson 70 celebrating acclaimed songwriter and author Nelson Motta, Anota Aí at Multishow Network, Férias em Família, first Brazilian scripted series entirely shot on location in Europe Dançando na Broadway/Broadway Dreams, and Mundo em Movimento/Dances of the World, both also at Multishow Network. Issa is also the executive Producer of the series Beyond Ipanema at Canal Brasil Network, now in its second season.

Reception and awards

Reception for Issa's work has been positive, with Dzi Croquettes being her most famous work. Dzi Croquettes has received praise from multiple news outlets such as the New York Times and Film Journal International.
Tatiana also recently received two Excellence Awards at Impact Doc Awards for her feature documentaries "Yves Saint-Laurent: My Marrakesh" and "The Architecture of Tadao Ando".
