Taura Stinson


Taura Stinson is an American songwriter, producer, musician, composer and author.
She has co-written songs for many artists like Deborah Cox, Cynthia Erivo, Kelly Rowland, Destiny’s Child, Kelis, Mary J Blige, Jennifer Hudson, and her long time co-writer, Raphael Saadiq. She has also written songs for various films, including Epic, Hand of Stone, The Sitter, Step, Mudbound and Black Nativity. Stinson has also written various songs for television, like “Gossypium Thorns” for “Underground”, and various others including Twin Peaks and Insecure. Her filmograpy includes an Oscar and Golden globe nomination for “Mighty River” with Mary J Blige and Raphael Saadiq, and her Critics Choice Award and HMMA win commend her work with Laura Karpman and Raphael Saadiq.

Life and Career

Taura Stinson was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised by in Oakland, California.
In the early 90’s, she co-founded an R&B trio called Emage with Kimbrely Evans and Mykah Montgomery. The trio signed a deal with One Love/Mercury Records and released one album, “Soul Deep”.
