Tech in Asia


Tech in Asia is a Singapore-based technology website and media and events company. It has hosted annual conferences across the continent primarily in Singapore, Tokyo and Jakarta since 2012. It was backed by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in 2015.

History and growth

Tech in Asia was founded in 2010 by Willis Wee during his third year of university, and counts East Ventures, Fenox Venture, Hanwha, Marvelstone, Softbank, Walden International, Y Combinator and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin as investors raising a total of $17 million to-date.
In October 2018, Tech in Asia launched its subscription program where it moved from offering free articles previously to a paywall like structure. Users have access to 5 free articles per month, after which they will be asked to pay US$18 a month or US$180 a year.
In November 2017, Tech in Asia raised $6.6 million in fresh funding led by Hanwha Investment and Securities.
