Telos (company)


Telos Corporation is an information technology and cybersecurity company located in Ashburn, Virginia. The company’s name is derived from the Greek word for “purpose” or “goal". Telos primarily serves government and enterprise clients, receiving a large number of its contracts from the United States Department of Defense.

Telos was founded in 1969, and incorporated in Maryland in 1971.
From 1975, Telos developed and supported ground-based, telemetry systems for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Starting in 1976, the company provided software engineering services for the U.S. Army's tactical fire support systems.
It was originally named C3, Incorporated, but in 1992 acquired Telos Corporation of California as a subsidiary for $32 million and adopted its name. John B. Wood joined the company in 1992 and became president and chief executive in 1994. Today, Telos is headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia.
On 16 June 2020, Telos Corporation has reported that Telos Automated Message Handling System service has been granted an additional five years and $15.6 million contract by the Defense Information Systems Agency.

On 20 May 2020, Telos Corporation confirmed that it has named the four-star General Army and USCYBERCOM's first commander, General Keith Alexander, as its advisory board 's inaugural leader. General Alexander will act as a strategic advisor and consult on specific safety priorities and initiatives.
