Its deprecated junior homonym is Therapon. It was introduced since "Terapon" was perceived as an incorrect rendering of the Greek word . In fact, the intended etymology was script=Latn = "strange thing, monster, wonder" + script=Latn = "marine", pertaining to the sea.Species
