Texas Stingray


Texas Stingray is a wooden roller coaster at SeaWorld San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. Manufactured by Great Coasters International, it opened to the public on February 22, 2020.

History

Planning for Texas Stingray dates to 2017. In April 2019, it was reported that a trademark was filed for a new theme park ride at SeaWorld San Antonio under the name “Abyss”. At around the same time land clearing and construction began at the park on a site across the pathway from the nearly finished attractions for 2019, Turtle Reef, Riptide Rescue, and Sea Swinger. Texas Stingray was not publicly announced until September 2019,and the trains would be revealed at the IAAPA expo at a later date. when it was reported that the coaster would open in spring 2020. Texas Stingray officially opened for annual pass members on February 22, 2020, but did not open to the general public until February 29.

Description

When announced, Texas Stingray was advertised as the "tallest, fastest, longest" wooden coaster in Texas. It features a maximum drop of and a top speed of. It also utilizes steel supports and is thus a hybrid coaster. Texas Stingray is long.
