The Beginning of the End (UTP album)

The Beginning of the End is the debut studio album by UTP, released on May 18, 2004 through Rap-a-Lot Records.

Background

The Beginning of the End marked UTP's first studio album after having previously releasing two compilation albums in 2002 and 2003. Instead of using the UTP name, the trio was instead billed as Juvenile, Wacko & Skip in order to build off Juvenile's popularity. The album is best known for its lead single "Nolia Clap". The single peaked at 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and 9 on both the R&B and rap charts. It would be the only top 40 hit that UTP would get, classifying them as one-hit wonders. The success of the single eventually led the album to reach No. 122 on the Billboard 200, the group's only album to do so. It also peaked at 17 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, which was their highest peak position on that chart. The Beginning of the End stayed on the Billboard 200 for four weeks and on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums for 17 weeks.
Production was handled be several prominent southern hip hop producers including Derek "Grizz" Edwards, Slice Tee and Donald "XL" Robertson. Mike Dean both mixed and mastered the album.
