The Foot of Cupid

The Foot of Cupid is an animated foot from the BBC television series Monty Python's Flying Circus. It is often seen in the opening animation credits, then at the end of the opening, dropping down on the title and everything around it with a sound similar to that of a short burst of flatulence.
It was based from Agnolo Bronzino's c. 1545 Venus, Cupid, Folly and Time and has been a trademark icon for the comedy troupe.
Influenced by Monty Python’s “high velocity sense of the absurd and not stopping to explain yourself”, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening pays tribute to the troupe through a couch gag which incorporates Cupid’s foot.
