Production
It was announced in October 2019 that Robert Eggers would direct and write, alongside Sjón, a film that was described as a Viking revenge film. Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgård, Anya Taylor-Joy, Bill Skarsgård, and Willem Dafoe were in talks to join the film. They would all be confirmed in December, along with the addition of Claes Bang to the cast.
Principal photography began on March 2, 2020 in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. On March 16, production on the film was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production will resume in August 2020.
