Therioherpeton

Therioherpeton is an extinct genus of therapsids based on Therioherpeton cargnini, a small cynodont that lived in the Late Triassic and was collected in the Hyperodapedon Assemblage Zone of the Alemoa Member of the Santa Maria Formation in the Paraná Basin at Santa Maria, Brazil. It was a small carnivore. For its characteristics, it was touted as a likely ancestor of mammals.
