Thomas Alwyn Lloyd Thomas Alwyn Lloyd , known as T. Alwyn Lloyd , was a leading Welsh architect and town planner. He was one of the founders of the Town Planning Institute in 1914 and its President in 1933. He was also a founding member of the Council for the Protection of Rural Wales in 1928 and served as its chairman from 1947 to 1959. Meic Stephens described Lloyd's work as follows:Life and career Thomas Alwyn Lloyd was born in Liverpool, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Jones Lloyd, from Denbighshire . He was educated at Liverpool College and studied and Liverpool School of Architecture in the University of Liverpool . Between 1907 and 1912 he was an assistant to Sir Raymond Unwin in the Hampstead Garden Suburb . In 1913 he was appointed consulting architect to the Welsh Town Planning and Housing Trust. He also undertook work for the National Coal Board and Forestry Commission in Wales. In 1948 he entered into partnership with Alex Gordon forming T. Alwyn Lloyd and Gordon. . He married Ethel Roberts in 1914. In about 1920 he designed his own home at 11 Heol Wen in Rhiwbina Garden Village , in northern Cardiff. It has been a Grade II listed building since 2001.
