Thyago Vieira


Thyago Vieira Lucio is a Brazilian professional baseball pitcher for the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional baseball. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox.
Vieira has hit 103-mile-per-hour with his fastball.

Career

The Mariners signed Vieira as a free agent in 2010. He pitched for the Venezuela Mariners for two years, spent the 2013 season as a starter for the low-A Everett AquaSox, then spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons as a reliever for the Clinton LumberKings. After an extended spring training in 2016, he joined high-A Bakersfield Blaze as a reliever, where he worked extensively with pitching coach Ethan Katz.
The Mariners added him to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season.
On November 16, 2017, Vieira was traded to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for international bonus pool money.
Vieira was released on December 2, 2019, in order to allow him to pursue an opportunity in Japan.

Yomiuri Giants

On December 3, 2019, Vieira signed with the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball.

International career

He was selected for Brazil national baseball team at the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualification, 2013 World Baseball Classic, 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualification and 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier.
