In 1986, Atlanta-based Tillinghast, Nelson & Warren Inc., then the nation's largest independent risk management consultant, merged with Towers, Perrin, Forster & Crosby, Inc. The company was restructured assigning Tillinghast's benefits practice to TPF & C and TPF & C's risk management practice to Tillinghast. The following year in 1987, the firm was rebranded under the name Towers Perrin. Today, Tillinghast is integrated into the company Willis Towers Watson.
