Tirthankar Roy
Tirthankar Roy, is an Indian economic historian and Professor in Economic History at the London School of Economics. His research mainly focuses on economic history, business history, and the history of development. He is particularly interested in the economic, political, and social effects of colonial rule of India during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
Prior to arriving at LSE, he served as a professor at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics in Pune, India. He serves on the editorial boards of internationally recognised journals including the Indian Economic and Social History Review and the Springer Economic History series.
Roy received his Ph.D. from the Centre for Development Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1989. He also received an M.A. in economics from Visva-Bharati University in West Bengal, India.Works
