Tom Whatley


Tom Whatley is an American politician. He is a Republican representing District 27 in the Alabama State Senate.

Personal life

Whatley was born in Opelika, Alabama. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University and a JD from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. Whatley has been a member of the Alabama Army National Guard since 1988, and is a Lieutenant Colonel.
In December 2014, Whatley was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, but the charges were dropped, with the city prosecutor saying the case didn't warrant prosecution.

Political career

In 2010, Whatley defeated Democratic incumbent T. D. Little to win the 27th district's seat in the Alabama State Senate. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018.
